I don’t feel that it’s far off to suggest that green smoothies could give you virtually all the components that your human body demands to be healthy. Besides maybe Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, in my opinion, these nutritious powerhouses have it all (yes, protein as well). The major dilemma I faced when I started out on the smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. See how I conquered themfor good.
I’d like to start out by telling you that the information in this article is only my opinion which is based on the information I have read regarding health and from more than a decade of living and eating the way I have on a daily basis. That and my blood work results every 6 months that indicates zero deficiencies, I feel that this information is valid. Possible it just works for me, my genetics and body type, I can’t say for sure. But, just like smoking cigarettes definitely will affect each of us with varying degrees of health negatives, eating green smoothies, I feel, definitely will affect each of us with varying degrees of health positives. Try it and see, after discussing it with your doctor of course.
The body is supposed to be equipped to heal naturally right? Why is it that so many people are becoming and staying sick? Perhaps it is in inaccurate statement that the body is truly designed to heal itself? No! The trouble is that people a) do not provide the body with the correct amount of tools, usually by way of diet, it needs to heal itself and b) we constantly bombard it with stuff that hinders the functionality of the limited number of essential resources that we actually do supply it.
I’m a big admirer of the raw food lifestyle. To suggest that heating food past a specific temperature destroying much needed enzymes that are significant to digestion makes plenty of sense to me. Further, it is implied that to get the most from our food we should be chewing it it until it’s completely liquefied. We have troubles handling large morsels of food. Also, I strongly believe that people can survive and thrive off of a diet of mainly fruits and dark green vegetables, with of course some healthy fats. For the healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I eat.
My main meals every single day are comprised of lots of raw fruits and green veggies in the form of green smoothies. Being that they are in a liquid state, my body is able to assimilate the nutrients without a problem.
A giant hurdle for most people when switching diets, and a big one for myself is the cravings for unhealthy foods. Just like someone that has addiction to alcohol or drugs must go through a detox in order to heal, we pretty much must to do the same thing. The cells in our body consist of stuff from foods that we have ingested in the past. The body may crave much of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the contents of the individual cells in our body. With a drug detox, many times, sauna therapy is used to sweat out the drugs. This could help eliminate the physical cravings for the drug which could allow the individual a better chance at sobriety. For us, adjusting our eating habits may trigger the clearing of toxic foods as well which can be quickly removed in stool, sweat and urine. But, we may still having cravings for those foods while some of the contaminants in our cells are still there.
I have found that right away after having the first drink of my green smoothie my own cravings for greasy foods, meat, sweets, salt, etc began to die away. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings passed completely and I’d be fulfilled. The issue then was that the unhealthy cravings would return as I became hungry. So I started to make sure I was on top of it and would have another smoothie available before the cravings would come back, or not too long after they began. The unhealthy cravings sooner or later subsided for good as I cleaned out my system. Afterward I began to crave greens instead!
The question I have now is, do you wish to remain sick and overweight or would you like to consider a healthier diet providing your body all the proper nutrition?
