Whenever the school holidays approach, working mums and working parents in general start going through a nightmare, as they start to fulfil their organisational roles. You will have six weeks or more of time to fill for your children, well aware that this is quality family time, irreplaceable for family bonding purposes. Doesn’t it seem that the months and years just fly by and you are all too aware how, before you turn around, the kids will be adults and on their way into the future. This makes you feel as if you want to spend the whole of the summer holidays with your children, as you soak in those summer rays. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take a six-week holiday as well?!

Then reality strikes home. If you are self-employed, you realise that holidays are few and far between anyway as you work to develop your business.

If you are within the ranks of the employed, you know only too well how your boss relies on you and cannot afford to be without you for that entire period, although you hope that he or she is flexible and at least a little accommodating, as this can make it all a lot easier.

Mend Your Broken Heart – Try Something New

To start any new habit only takes 21 days, that also goes for breaking any bad ones we may have. If you are still moping over your breakup and consumed over every little thing that wrong – STOP!!! Although it’s quite natural to feel hurt for a long time after a losing someone we love, we have to get up and begin to live again. So get out of those ugly sweatpants and put away the junk food, it’s time to start some new habits and try something new to mend your broken heart!

The very first thing we have to do is put an end to all the terrible habits we are doing now. Are you checking Facebook or Twitter every 5 minutes to see what’s your ex is doing? With the friends you still share, are you still bringing him up and asking about them? We want our ex to have the same broken heart as we do and we want to know if they miss us too. Well, if you want to heal you have to make a conscious effort to break these habits. Whenever you are feeling that pull to check online or to bring up your ex, pinch yourself. Not lightly but hard! You have to begin make yourself aware of these bad habits so you can stop them.

With our new self inflected injuries on our arms, we will begin some new habits to divert ourselves from the ones we are trying to stop. Our new habit should be complementing ourselves as we need to feel good about ourselves again. This may feel strange at first but you need to write down 10 really good things about yourself. It could be as simple as this:

Next we are going to join something new. Is there something you have always wanted to try? Is is learning to cook, rock climb, creative writing or running, what it the new thing you want to join? Choose something fun, you will not only learn a new skill but you will be forced to meet new people. These people will get to know the “real you”, not the “you” that you were with your ex.

Trying something new and beginning new habits will give you something else to concentrate on beside what is going on with your ex. For 21 days try these 2 things and see how much better you begin to feel. Are you feeling more confident? Are you thinking about your ex less often? We are just beginning to retrain how we feel about ourselves and healing our broken heart takes time.
