How To Keep Mini Nfl Helmets Shiny And New

November 16, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

Investing in affordable sports memorabilia such as mini NFL helmets is a rewarding hobby. But just as every other item in a popular sports memorabilia collection they usually tend to collect dust and look jaded after a while. Here are a few pointers to keep them looking new.

For Display Purposes Only
They say prevention is better than cure. Truer words have never been spoken in this case. Keeping your collection of mini NFL helmets away from sweaty hands can save you a lot of effort from cleaning countless fingerprints off of them later. It is not just the fingerprints you have to keep in mind but also the other chemicals that come a long with it.

Human hands come into contact with hundreds, if not thousands of different chemicals every day. Many of these elements might not seem dangerous in low quantities but may be quite corrosive over the years. These chemicals can spoil the finishing as well as the paint job, devaluing your NFL merchandise.

It would be great if the sports collectibles could be kept away from sun light and florescent lighting too. Exposure to ultra violet rays might lead to the colors looking faded. So always keep your important popular sports memorabilia collection in an acrylic or glass display which has a UV limiting tint. The will help prevent your sports merchandise from coming into contact with chemically polluted hands and also prevent the paint job from premature fading.

Cleaning And Touch Ups
If your selection of affordable sports memorabilia, be it monopoly board games or novelty lanyards, is exposed to potentially damaging substances then its is most likely that you should consider cleaning it once a while. Before beginning the cleaning process, remember to check if the item has a tag with cleaning instructions. Sports items such as MLB uniforms usually come with washing instructions. If it does not then just follow these simple procedures.

First of all inspect the NFL mini helmet for any traces of dirt or scratches. Remove dirt with a soft brush or lint-free cloth. Do not brush or wipe too hard or you will risk damaging the product. If there is a scratch but the damage is not too serious, you could use light polish to polish off the scratch. If the damage is too serious then you may have to consider sending the merchandise in for a professional detailing job.

If there are no visible scratches, proceed to clean the item with a mild detergent. Refrain from using strong solvents or powerful cleaning chemicals. Using such products could be detrimental to the paint job. Be extra careful around the logo areas as some logos are stuck on and not sprayed on. Next, rinse the item and towel dry. Lastly, use a buffer cloth to finish the job. You can use the same technique to maintain regular NFL football helmets and other similar sports head gear as well.

Should Your Child Play For A Traveling Sports Team?

November 14, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

Traveling teams are popular for several sports including soccer and basketball. If you are considering letting your child try out for a team, you will need to keep the following points in mind. To learn more please visit Arsenal News

First, does your child want to participate at this level? If his or her interest is only lukewarm or nonexistent, do not go to tryouts. Kids need to be the primary driver in extracurricular activity decisions. A recreational league or even another activity entirely may be more to your child’s liking.

Second, does your child truly have the ability to succeed at the sport? If he or she is one of the better players on a recreational team, then a select team could be worthwhile for expanding skills. On the other hand, a kid that barely makes the team may experience friction from team mates over skill levels and/or spend a lot of time on the bench. While mastering challenges is good for children, getting a youngster in over his or her head at a young age is not a good idea and may even kill their enthusiasm for the sport or worse, destroy their self-esteem.

Third, can you handle the financial commitment? You will be expected to foot the bill for hotels, meals, and transportation along with uniforms. Many teams have a fee that must be paid each season that could be hundreds of dollars, or you may have to pick up your share of tournament fees. These expenses can add up quickly. Fourth, can you and your child handle the time commitment? Usually, at least two practices are held per week along with games and tournaments on the weekends. Tournaments can involve multiple games on both Saturdays and Sundays. You may be losing much of your free time and family time. If you have other children, will their activities get shorted due to the traveling team’s schedule? Getting homework and school projects completed can be difficult if your child is constantly practicing or playing games.

Another consideration is that many games are played on Sunday mornings. If you normally attend religious services then you will not get to go as often unless you belong to a congregation that has services on other days.

Before letting your child try out for a traveling sports team, consider the points mentioned above. While these teams have much to offer an aspiring young athlete, make sure that you make the best choice for your child and family. Article written by Arsenal News

Nfl Football Helmets Make Wonderful Gifts

November 11, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

I was given the first of my huge collection NFL football helmets when I was 8. Way back mini NFL helmets were not so easily available so I did not have much choice but to line the one I had with a face towel to get it to fit my tiny little 8 year old head. I recall it being the holidays and being the child of an avid sports fan meant that my brothers and I always received some sort of sports merchandise for birthdays and other occasions which required gifts to be handed out.

When I reached the age of 15, I had many NHL hockey jerseys from various teams. My room took on the look of a sports museum. My desk and night stand were littered with my popular sports memorabilia collection. My wardrobe was filled with NFL replica jerseys. Even my blankets were sports logo merchandise.

People who had been to my room had remarked that I had more MLB merchandise than a sports merchandise store. With all those items, the main concern I had was the shortage of space. It was not the fabled ultimate frontier, so the movie line goes, but it was still a challenge. The funny thing was although my brothers and I had accumulated enough sports paraphernalia to fill the USS Nimitz, my dad had a relatively meager collection.

I have been a sports nut since I the first time I watched an NFL game live. And I am fortunate enough to have never received a sports related gift I did not like. I have received everything from logo door mats to books on NBA trivia. But my favorite sports collectables are still my sets of NFL football helmets. Many of which are signed. Those are the ones I store in the attic. Meticulous kept to ensure the signatures do not get rubbed out by mistake. And away from troublesome family members and kids who insist on trying every single one of them on during the holidays. I am not trying to be selfish but those helmets are worth quite a small fortune. Specifically the autographed ones in a complete set. Those of you who have valuable sports memorabilia like these should go the extra mile in ensuring they remain in excellent condition. You would not believe how much those collectable might be worth in the future.

My collection of memorabilia has grown to include mini NFL helmets as well as the ones on keyrings. Suffice to say, it is practically impossible to get the keyring helmets signed so I thought of getting them thumb printed. Apparently, that would just invite a lot of legal complications. So I will stick to conventional sized merchandise from now on.

Autographed Sports Memorabilia: Information You Can Use Before You Buy

November 09, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

Today, a lot of fraud still remains in the sports memorabilia industry — especially on eBay. Legitimate vendors have tried to curb this for a long time but it is a tough battle. Baseball collectibles remain one of the most popular Google searches, followed by football memorabilia. However autographed sports memorabilia still is a profitable online business.

The way one collects autographed sports memorabilia is similar to the purchase of shares from the stock exchange. The team is the stock. You have to make sure the team has good fundamentals, management, and you also have to investigate how the market values them.

Does eBay stand at first place to buy sports memorabilia items from? It definitely is but you just have to make sure you are purchasing from a reliable seller and that you are getting certified items. We would be happy to look at items you are considering buying, just email us with a link to the item and we will give you our opinion.

eBay is the favorite place for the dummy sellers to sell the fake autographed items because they are considered to be certified and real.Typically, the dummy seller provides an copy of the autograph and a description. To the uninformed buyer, the signature looks authentic.

Find several reputable dealers that sell authentic autographed sports memorabilia and other high-quality sports products. Buy with the dealers you trust. Beware of the fake online - dealers that cannot show proof of authenticity on high-dollar items. Also, beware of those who might try to pass off sports memorabilia with copied signatures. If you have a bad feeling about a product or dealer ,don’t take the chance.

Some collectors enjoy collecting autographed sports memorabilia like jerseys, gloves, batting gloves, game tickets, and many more items.Collectors will have a wide range of interest when it comes to collecting autographed sports memorabilia, but they do need to be extremely careful when purchasing items to make sure that the item is authentic. At times, collectors will have entire hall in their homes dedicated to their collection of sports memorabilia, which might tend to drive their spouse crazy at times. Images of players of every sport|game are created, which can tell a story about a certain event in history of the sport.

One great benefit associated with an autographed sports memorabilia item is that their monetary value may go up with time.A Joe Montana NFL jersey sells for more than double what it used to sell for 5 years ago. Unfortunately, when a player dies their memorabilia goes up even more.

Gift Ideas For A Sports

October 30, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

Before you know it, there is a birthday arriving soon for someone you know. If the birthday is for a sports fan then usually, sports memorabilia comes to mind. Its not as hard as you think to shop for a sports enthusiast, even if you do not know even the basics about sports. And, for the most part, they are available everywhere and are not very costly as, for example, there are a variety of types of affordable sports memorabilia items available in the market.

The first thing you should do is to find out what sport the person you will be shopping for is a fan of. But there is more to come. Lets say the person is a huge NBA fan. That does not mean that you can just get him NBA merchandise from any team in the NBA. For example buying a Chicago Bulls fan a Detroit Pistons basketball team merchandise is a big no no to a Chicago Bulls faithful. So pay a little attention to this part of the plan.

Next, after finding out what sport he is into, you would need to dig a little deeper and find out which team he is a fan off. Do a search on the net for stores selling sports merchandise of that particular team. If you decide to get him a jersey, please bear in mind that most fans would have at least 1 jersey of the team they support. But there are at least three types of jersey - home jerseys, away jerseys and training jerseys. So getting him one which he does not have would surely make any fan’s day.

You can even take the jersey gift a level higher by getting one with his favorite player’s name and team number proudly displayed on it. It is even possible to personalize it by having the birthday boy’s very own name and favorite number displayed on the jersey.

The greatest gift, however, is an autographed memorabilia. NFL merchandise with the signature of a player or every player on the team on it would send any fan into ecstasy. Unfortunately, such items are not only hard to come by but cost quite a few doubloons as well. Gifts such as these are normally kept in an enclosed glass or acrylic display casing, away from oily hands with potentially destructive chemicals.

But the simple fact still remains that most sports fans would be more than happy to receive a gift, be it cool belt buckles, with their team’s emblem on it to add to their popular sports merchandise collection.

A Quick Introduction To Fantasy Professional Football

October 23, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

Whether you already know every professional football team and player like the back of your hand, or you just want to learn enough to look less blank when conversing with friends, family or coworkers, fantasy football can enhance your NFL viewing experience.

As a lottery commercial says, “you have to be in it to win it”. In order to join the fun, you have to pick a “host”, select your preferred NFL players, and join or start a league.

You have a ton of options when considering where to host a fantasy football team. Some of the most commonly played “hosts” include CBS Sportsline.com, SportingNews.com, YahooSports Fantasy Football and CDM Fantasy Sports.

Depending on the host and league, you’ll play one of several formats. One requires an upfront payment to enter your league, but doesn’t charge you for players you pick up during the season from a free agent or “waiver” pool. Generally, the higher you pay as your upfront fee, the larger your prize if you win your league for the season.

The second format is free to join, but will cost you for most or all players you claim off waivers or as free agents after the initial draft period ends. Generally, trades with other players are free of charge. Be careful, though! Those trades can be costly in another way you if you give away too much to get that must-have player. Visit Gunners for more information

The most common formats allow you a team made up of one or more quarterbacks, one or more running backs, one or more wide receivers, one or more tight ends and one or more defense/special teams (DST) units. Depending on the league, you may play all of your players at once or pick some players as “starters” and assign others as “reserves”. Only your active players (starters} earn you points for that week. You get points for their league-defined accomplishments each week. What and how much your team will score will vary from league to league.

Now you need players on your team, so it is time for you to “draft” some. Using your basic understanding of football, and drawing on your NFL savvy, or some free or paid information sources to review, you’ll rank real NFL players before your league draft. You may also be able to use the players as “pre-ranked” by your host. Visit Gunners for more information

You’ll also need to decide whether you want the excitement and time commitment of a live draft, or the relative ease and less time offered by an automated draft. If you are a beginner, the automated draft is highly recommended.

During the season, there are “BYE” weeks, during which an NFL team and its players get the week off to recharge. Real players also can be injured, so you lose their productivity. On the other hand, you and your team don’t get any time off, so you’ll probably have to make trades and waiver wire moves to ensure that you have a full, strong team playing every week.

Those are the basics. Now, it is up to you to apply your special knowledge, instinct or hunches, and “Win one for the Gipper”. Before your draft, you might want to challenge friends, family members or co-workers who have similar skills to yours to join your league. Some healthy competition can make your fantasy football experience even more enjoyable. Visit Gunners for more information

Having Fun On An Outing At A Recreational Vehicle Park

September 27, 2008 By: blogger Category: Sports & Recreation No Comments →

When you travel in your RV for vacation or even a quick getaway, you want to take full advantage of your home away from home. You can’t do that if you are constantly stopping at a hotel or simply camping to sleep.

Besides the fact that you are spending money you do not need to pay - and that you have no doubt already spent plenty on your RV itself - you have many options with your own RV so you do not have to do this.

Many people even stop at rest areas along the way that do not have hook-ups for shower and appliance usage. This doesn’t make any sense either. The best place to park your RV is in an RV park that is specifically made to handle all your needs.

Usefulness of RV Parks

Recreational parks have been around for a long time and can be used for both camping and RV parking. These parks usually have all the facilities that hotels include, and are much less expensive than hotels.

RV parks typically include picnic tables for eating, barbeque grills, electric and AC power, wireless Internet connections, pools, playgrounds, gift shops, and even fitness areas. They are often owned by a private corporation such as Kampgrounds of America (KOA), and they scatter their RV parks around the country so that no matter where you go you can find a KOA that will accept your RV.

Preparing to Secure a Park

Before you travel to any RV park you should make a reservation just as you would for a hotel. They will usually charge you a base price that includes your length of stay and any water and electrical hookup charges they have.

The prices are considerably less than hotels and offer any amenities that are on site. There are many great parks around the country, and by doing a quick search on the Internet you can find one in the area to which you are traveling.

Enjoyment of your Stay

The atmosphere at the RV Park is very family friendly. You will see many large groups of people having fun on the playground or basketball courts and enjoying late night campfires. Most people are very respectful of one another, and you each have your own area in which to sit and enjoy your vacation.

Make sure to bring everything you need, such as a cooler with plenty of drinks and food, and outside chairs to soak up the sun. Along with your fishing poles and hiking shoes, you should be all set to have a great vacation.
