Cause Of Yeast Infection
Candida is a type of yeast, or fungus, and it is normally found in your body. We all have some degree of yeast in our systems as part of our natural biological balance.
However, when the internal environment of our bodies goes out of balance due to stress, poor diet, or fatigue, the normal amount of yeast can grow and become the cause of yeast infection. This cause problems which show up as the following symptoms:
* vaginal itching and burning
* vulvar redness or irritation
* thick, white vaginal discharge (often described as having a “cottage-cheese” texture)
* subtle “yeasty” odor, like beer or bread
* pain or discomfort with urination
* pain or discomfort during or after sexual intercourse
In addition to stress, poor diet, and fatigue, there are a number of other things that cause yeast infection. These additional factors fall into four main categories.
Vaginal area environment: extra moisture or increased warmth in the genital area, not drying the exterior vaginal area thoroughly after bathing, and poor personal hygiene habits in general also promote yeast growth. Using perfumed feminine hygiene sprays can also create problems and fits into this category.
Hormonal factors: the fluctuation of hormones in a woman’s body during menstruation and menopause increases vulnerability to infection.
Clothing: inadequately ventilated clothing and underwear, tight-fitting pants or pantyhose, or the wearing of damp pantyhose or a wet bathing suit for long periods of time can also create an environment where yeast can thrive.
