Amateur Photography - Starting Out as a Newbie
What is amateur photography? The word amateur refers to a person that does something because they love doing it not because they have made a career out of it. Therefore, amateur photography would be when someone takes photographs for their personal enjoyment. If you are interested in becoming an amateur photographer then here are some tips that can help you get started. The first thing you need is a good camera. A good camera is one that you feel comfortable using so don’t pick something someone else likes. Instead pick the one that is right for you. It can be a digital camera or one that uses film, it’s your choice. However, digital cameras do seem to be taking the lead.
You do want to look for a camera that has the features that you need now and the ones you feel you will need in the future as you expand your talents. You can always upgrade later, but you want to get at least two or three good years out of your first one. Keep your camera in a case for protection when not in use. Make sure that you have extra batteries charged and ready to go with you at all times. There is nothing worse than being in the perfect place with exciting images all around you and have a camera with dead batteries.
When it comes to good amateur photography you need to have good lighting. If you do not have the correct light then your pictures will not turn out as good as they could. They will be to dark or to bright to see the image. Blurry pictures are also a big problem for amateur photographers. This is usually due to shaking the camera. Hold the camera firmly in both hands to help eliminate blurry photos. Purchasing a lightweight camera may also help you hold it still if you have a big problem with blurry pictures. Many of the newer cameras have features that also help to reduce this problem.
In amateur photography the position of the image is very important. If you take the shot to close or to far away you won’t be able to see it clearly. The wrong angle can ruin a photo as well. This is why it is necessary for you to practice to find out the best position for the image in different situations. Practice is also the best way to learn how to master other qualities of taking a good photograph such as proper lighting. Take a lot of different pictures of the same image at different times of the day. Compare these to each other and you will be able to see what angle and distance and lighting produced the best photo. The more you practice the better you will become.
