In the test, one group was made to play video games while another group was to undergo Kraepelin test wherein one-digit numbers are to be added for a certain period of time. The first group showed brain activities and usage in parts concerned for vision and movement. Though only the left hemisphere is needed for mathematical thinking, the other group also exhibited brain usage even in right hemisphere, the area responsible for creativity.
Additional research showed that numerical thinking is more beneficial than music. Reading was also observed to have brain usage for the frontal lobe.
Leaving the frontal lobe with little activities at the peak of brain development during puberty might cause the brain to be configured poorly as the person grows older. This is one of the greatest concerns from experts engaged in the study. Current findings left them with worries of having intellectually marginalized youth.
This study earned relevant and other useful feedbacks from typical gamers and students. Tactical and strategy games might cause brain usage for some other part aside from vision and movement.
